Soraya Jayne's International Ballet School offers classical ballet classes to children from 3 1/2 years to students of university age.
Our dancers are trained in a positive, disciplined and caring environment.
We strive to offer a curriculum to meet the needs of all of our students.
By combining a traditional syllabus (the Russian Ballet Society syllabus)
used with imagination and spontaneity we guide the students in a way that
is both structured and creative.
We take care to train our dancers according to individual capability. Ballet
is a discipline that takes many years to achieve the strength, co-ordination
and skills required to execute the technical steps. Children must be prepared
physically and mentally. They are able to perform many movements, but technique
must be developed carefully. This requires PATIENCE from both the students
and parents. Pointe shoes should NEVER be attempted before the leg muscles,
body and feet are strong enough to handle all the EXTRA stress. It is very
unwise for the young child to even try. The soft under developed feet bones
may become dislocated because the muscles that support the body weight
are not yet developed to protect them. So as the child grows older and
heavier the malformation can become critical, ruining a hobby, or career,
before it has begun.
Mime is essential to stretch the imagination of young children and to allow them to express how they feel. As they get older this is shown through the movement of ballet.
Discipline is an essential part of the training.
We also ask for your support and understanding to ensure learning takes place in a safe and co-operative environment.
